Pune residents are facing power outages as continuous rainfall and water release from Khadakwasla Dam have led to the suspension of electricity supply to approximately 3,050 customers in Pune, Pimpri, and the talukas of Khed, Maval, and Ambegaon for safety reasons.

In Pune, the water release from Khadakwasla Dam has resulted in power cuts affecting about 1,950 customers in various areas: 100 in Pulachi Wadi and Premnagar, 450 in seven societies in Ektanagari on Sinhagad Road,

100 in Bhimnagar in Balewadi, 400 in Shantinagar and Indiranagar in Vishrantwadi, 450 in the old market area of Mangalwar Peth, and 450 in the Tadivala Road area.

In Pimpri, 400 customers in Sanjay Gandhinagar and Pimpri Camp are without power. The floodwater has submerged electrical systems, causing power cuts to around 700 customers in Wadivale, Valkh, Budhawadi, Sangise, Nesave, and Khandshi in Maval taluka, and Sakurdi, Kahu, Vetale, Saigaon, and Kothule in Khed taluka.

Ambegaon taluka is experiencing landslides in the villages of Panchale Khurd and Wachpe at the foothills, prompting the relocation of residents and the suspension of power supply to about 15 customers for safety.

Continuous rainfall since yesterday has led to waterlogging in many parts of Pune. The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for heavy rainfall in Pune today.

With ongoing rainfall in the dam area, water release from Khadakwasla Dam has started, increasing the risk of water accumulation in several areas.

Previously, homes in Ektanagar were flooded, and similar conditions have emerged this time. However, residents have been relocated to safer locations.
