Internal inquiry by Pune police department found him culpable of the charges, leading to his formal dismissal from the police force.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has ordered the dismissal of Police Sub-Inspector Kashinath Ubhe following a shocking case where he was found guilty of extorting money from a senior citizen using a malicious honey trap scheme.

This incident not only highlights a grave abuse of power but also underscores the betrayal of public trust by a member of the law enforcement agency.

Despite his extensive legal training and responsibilities, Sub-Inspector Ubhe's involvement in this case was deemed reckless, socially harmful, and damaging to the reputation of the police force.

The order of dismissal explicitly stated that such actions were unbecoming of a police officer and necessitated strict disciplinary measures.

The incident unfolded in the Kothrud area, where a senior citizen was lured into a carefully orchestrated honey trap by a woman. She befriended the elderly man, gradually gaining his trust, and eventually took him to a hotel on Laxmi Road.

Once there, the woman threatened him with the prospect of a fabricated rape charge, demanding a hefty sum of ₹5 lakh to keep the false accusation at bay.

The situation escalated when Sub-Inspector Ubhe, along with three accomplice women, joined in the extortion scheme.

In an act of blatant intimidation and physical abuse, they assaulted the elderly man within the confines of the hotel. This violent act of coercion was aimed at forcing the senior citizen to comply with their extortion demands.

The Vishrambaug Police Station registered a case against Sub-Inspector Ubhe and the three women involved on July 30. Following the registration of the case, Ubhe was promptly suspended from his duties, and a detailed internal investigation was launched to scrutinize his conduct.

The inquiry found him culpable of the charges, leading to his formal dismissal from the police force on the directives of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
