Pune: As the notification for the Assembly elections in Pune district was released on Tuesday (October 22), a significant number of candidates wasted no time in collecting their nomination forms.
The notification pertains to elections for 21 constituencies in the district. By the end of the first day, 357 aspirants had already taken their forms, signaling a competitive election ahead.
With the deadline for submitting nomination forms set for October 29, candidates now have only five days left to complete the process. Election officials expect a surge in filings over the next few days as the deadline nears. Nomination forms can be submitted between 11 AM and 3 PM.
The distribution of nomination forms across constituencies in Pune city on the first day is as follows:
Wadgaon Sheri: 26 forms collected
Shivajinagar: 10 forms collected
Kothrud: 12 forms collected
Parvati: 19 forms collected
Hadapsar: 19 forms collected
Pune Cantonment: 17 forms collected
Kasba Peth: 16 forms collected
Khadakwasla: 19 forms collected
As the deadline approaches, the election scene in Pune is expected to become more intense, with a larger number of candidates filing their nominations in the coming days.
The Election Commission of India has introduced the cVIGIL mobile app to curb electoral malpractices and report violations of the Model Code of Conduct during the upcoming assembly elections.
This app allows citizens to easily report misconduct during the election process, while ensuring their identity remains confidential. The district administration shared these details as part of efforts to increase transparency and accountability in the elections.
