Pune: As the state celebrates the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan on Monday (August 19), a sense of joy and togetherness fills the air.

This festival, which highlights the deep bond between brothers and sisters, sees sisters tying rakhis on their brothers’ wrists, with brothers offering gifts in return.

Adding to the festive spirit, auto-rickshaw drivers in Pune have demonstrated a heartwarming gesture of goodwill.

In honor of Raksha Bandhan, women passengers in Pune will be treated to complimentary rickshaw rides worth up to ₹100.

This initiative is particularly aimed at the many women who travel to Pune by train to reunite with their families for the festival. The auto drivers have decided to offer this as a symbolic gift to the sisters visiting the city.

The offer is available today, from 8 AM to 8 PM, at the Rickshaw Mitra Prepaid Booth located at Pune Station.

Women passengers can avail themselves of free rickshaw rides up to ₹100, and in cases where the fare exceeds ₹100, they will receive a discount of ₹100 on the total amount. This thoughtful initiative by the rickshaw drivers is intended as a token of appreciation and celebration of the festival.

Rickshaw unions have urged women to make the most of this special offer, which serves as a small but meaningful Raksha Bandhan gift from the city's auto drivers. The Rickshaw Mitra Prepaid Booth can be found in front of the ticket reservation center at Pune Railway Station.
