Pune district has designated 8,417 polling stations for the upcoming assembly elections, 38 of which are situated in remote locations lacking communication facilities.

In a recent directive, Shama Pawar, Deputy Collector and Coordinator of the District Communication Plan, requested telecom companies to enable communication services in these isolated areas to ensure a seamless election process.

During a meeting held at the District Collectorate with representatives from various telecom service providers, Pawar highlighted the need for active communication facilities at each polling station.

She instructed the telecom companies to assess the availability of mobile networks at the 38 remote polling stations and promptly report back with network availability details.

Based on these findings, alternative arrangements will be organized for all election officers to facilitate smooth operations.

District Information Officer and Public Relations Coordinator, Dr. Ravindra Thakur, was also present at the meeting.

He outlined the rules for election campaigning, specifying that all campaign content, including bulk SMS, recorded audio messages, and advertisements on social media or internet platforms, must first be certified by the District Media Certification and Monitoring Committee.

Dr. Thakur further emphasized that telecom companies are instructed not to broadcast any bulk SMS or audio message that has not been pre-certified, in line with election regulations.

The district administration has released the list of election officers for each assembly constituency in Pune. The election officers will oversee the electoral process in their respective constituencies to ensure smooth and fair voting on election day.
