Pune: Godrej Jersey’s latest Milk Report, released in celebration of National Milk Day, underscores the dual demand in Pune for both traditional and modern value-added dairy products.
The survey reveals that ghee and butter are the top choices among Pune consumers, with 81% and 80% favoring these products, respectively. Paneer and curd closely follow, with a 77% preference among local consumers.
While traditional dairy products maintain a stronghold, modern dairy items are also gaining traction. The report found that 52% of consumers have incorporated yogurt into their diets, and 46% have expressed interest in flavored milk.
Titled “Bottoms Up…India Says Cheers to Milk!” the report includes consumer data from major cities across India—Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkata—providing insights into evolving dairy consumption patterns.
Commenting on the report findings, Bhupendra Suri, CEO of Godrej Jersey, highlighted the unique blend of traditional favorites and modern dairy choices embraced by Indian consumers.
“From classics like curd, paneer, and ghee to newer selections like yogurt and flavored milk, consumers today are increasingly mindful of quality and nutrition,” he stated. “As India’s dairy sector grows, Godrej Jersey remains committed to understanding and meeting these evolving consumer needs.”
The report also highlights an emphasis on quality, with 54% of consumers nationwide prioritizing this factor when choosing dairy products.
In Pune, quality holds even greater importance, with 64% of consumers ranking it as a top priority, showing a willingness to pay a premium for unadulterated, high-quality dairy products.
Conducted by YouGov, the survey was commissioned by Creamline Dairy Products Limited, a subsidiary of Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL) under the Godrej Jersey brand.
Through initiatives focused on quality and transparency, Godrej Jersey supports the Indian dairy industry’s development and empowers farmers by promoting sustainable practices and enhancing their income potential.
