Pune: In a major breakthrough, Pune police have arrested a courier company employee for allegedly delivering drugs directly to addicts' homes.

This arrest comes in connection with a recent drug bust in the Vishrantwadi area, where police seized mephedrone worth ₹1 crore and arrested three other individuals.

The investigation into the drug trafficking ring led to the arrest of Vishwanath Konapure, a 48-year-old resident of Kalepadal, Hadapsar, originally from Solapur.

Konapure was employed by a local courier service and was reportedly in contact with the drug traffickers. Police discovered that he had been using his position to deliver mephedrone to users across Pune city and its surrounding areas.

Earlier, police had conducted a raid in the Dhanori area of Vishrantwadi, leading to the seizure of the substantial quantity of mephedrone and the arrest of Shrinivas Santosh Godje (age 21, resident of Dhanori), Rohit Shantaram Bende (age 21, resident of Lohgaon), and Nimish Subhash Abnave (age 27, resident of Vighnaharta Apartment, Tingrenagar, Lohegaon).

Police Constable Sandeep Damodar Shirke at Vishrantwadi Police Station, the Anti-Narcotics Squad received information that three individuals were present at Vighnaharta Apartment in Tingrenagar and were suspected of possessing narcotics.

Acting on this tip-off, the police visited the location and found the three individuals standing by the roadside. Upon searching them, the police recovered 471 grams of Mephedrone (MD), four mobile phones, a two-wheeler, a car, and two electronic weighing scales.

During the investigation, police traced the origins of the drugs and the distribution network, eventually leading them to Konapure.

The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam, with authorities now focusing on identifying other potential links in the drug distribution network.
