Pune Def Spacetech 2024: MCCIA Organizes Defense and Space Technology Event

It will kick off on August 29 with a Vendor Development Program led by Central Public Sector Enterprises.

Pune: On the first anniversary of India's Chandrayaan mission, the Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA) is set to host a significant two-day event focusing on advancements in defense and space technology.

Scheduled for August 29-30, 2024, the event will take place at the MCCIA office on Senapati Bapat Road in Pune. The program aims to celebrate India's achievements in space research, particularly the success of the Chandrayaan mission, while fostering collaboration between various sectors.

The event is being organized with support from the MSME Development and Facilitation Office in Mumbai. It will kick off on August 29 with a Vendor Development Program led by Central Public Sector Enterprises. The following day, August 30, will feature a high-level conference titled "Pune Def Spacetech 2024: Bridging Defense and Space Technologies."

The objectives of this event include strengthening ties between Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and major defense establishments, showcasing cutting-edge technologies in the defense and space sectors, and providing a platform for knowledge exchange among industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators.

The event also aims to highlight India's progress in the space sector and explore new avenues for collaboration in defense and space technologies, all while promoting the Indian government's Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) initiative.

Prashant Girbane, Director General of the Maratha Chamber, emphasized the event's importance for Pune's industrial community. "This event presents a significant opportunity for Pune's industrial establishments to contribute to India's defense and space capabilities. By bringing together key stakeholders from the government, industry, and academia, we aim to foster innovation and leadership while strengthening our nation's technological capabilities and self-reliance."

Key Features of the Event:

  • Inaugural Session (August 29, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM): Opening ceremony with dignitaries from the defense and government sectors.

  • Vendor Development Program (August 29, 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM): A session focused on collaboration between MSMEs and major defense suppliers.

  • Conference on Defense and Space Technologies (August 30, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM): Panel discussions on policy frameworks, future perspectives, and emerging technologies, along with a special roundtable on strategic topics.

  • Exhibition (August 29-30, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM): Featuring over 35 companies showcasing their products and the latest research in defense and space technology.

The event will host prominent speakers, including senior officials from the Ministry of Defense, ISRO, and representatives from leading private sector companies.
