Shivraj Sanas

Pune: In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, the Pune district administration has arranged for the deployment of approximately 62,000 personnel across 21 constituencies.

Currently, the administration has 51,646 personnel available for duties related to voting and vote counting.

With the voter registration process still ongoing, an increase in the number of polling stations is expected. To accommodate this, auxiliary polling stations will be established next to existing ones where voter numbers exceed 1,500.

The administration has issued appointment orders for around 62,000 staff, with training sessions set to begin next week.

This deployment will involve state and central government officers and employees, as well as personnel from private and government schools, banks, and other government departments.

Election Preparations:

The district election administration has issued orders for the appointment of polling station chiefs, assistants, and other staff.

  • A total of 43,768 officials and personnel have been appointed so far.

  • Currently, the district administration has 51,646 employees available.

  • Each polling station will have a polling station chief, polling officer, assistant chief, voting staff, and a police officer.

  • Additional station chiefs will be appointed if the voter count at any polling station exceeds 1,200.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has mobilized around 5,500 employees in response to the district administration's requirements. Employees engaged in essential services such as water supply, healthcare, sanitation, and other critical departments have been excluded from this election duty to ensure continuity of these services.
