Pune: A doctor from Mangalwar Peth was defrauded of ₹7.5 lakhs under the guise of installing a solar energy system at their hospital.
Samarth Police have filed a case against Pradeep Baban Jamdar, a resident of Benda Budruk, Ahmednagar, following a complaint lodged by the aggrieved doctor.
According to the complaint, the doctor had agreed to have a solar energy system installed on the hospital’s roof at Parge Chowk, Mangalwar Peth. Jamdar, the accused, had quoted ₹7.5 lakhs for the installation.
The doctor made an initial payment of INR 48,000, with further payments made in cash and online, amounting to a total of INR 7 lakhs.
However, after receiving the payments, Jamdar abandoned the project midway and did not complete the solar system installation. Multiple attempts by the doctor to contact Jamdar went unanswered.
Upon realizing they had been defrauded, the doctor approached the Samarth Police Station to file a complaint. Samarth Police have registered a case of fraud, and Assistant Police Inspector Patil is currently investigating the matter.
Recently, a doctor from the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) had been swindled out of ₹1.22 crore after being lured into a fake stock market investment scheme.
The 32-year-old doctor, whose identity remains undisclosed, had filed a complaint with the cyber crime police, shedding light on the increasing prevalence of such scams targeting educated individuals.
The doctor received a message on his mobile phone from cyber criminals, offering the promise of high returns through stock market investments.
