Pune DPC: MVA Legislators and MPs Excluded from ₹1,256 Crore Funds

Pune District Planning Committee (DPC) has not allocated funds to the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance’s MPs and MLAs. This comes despite the committee approving a ₹1,256 crore development plan, with approximately ₹300 crore being sanctioned just before the impending Assembly elections.

Pune district is represented by 21 MLAs, three members of the Legislative Council, and seven MPs. As the election code of conduct is expected to come into effect soon, elected representatives had urgently submitted lists of proposed development projects to the DPC.

However, the recently released list of approved works shows that none of the requested funds have been granted to several prominent MVA leaders, including MPs Supriya Sule and Amol Kolhe, as well as MLAs from the Congress and NCP.

On Friday (September 13), the DPC released details of sanctioned development projects, which will be funded from the remaining ₹500 crore.

Out of this, ₹300 crore has been approved for a range of projects, including civic and public services, school repairs, sewage systems, minor irrigation works, rural road developments, and more. Special allocations have also been made for projects related to forts, forests, medicines, and sports.

The total ₹1,256 crore budget includes around ₹700 crore that has already been committed to ongoing projects, leaving ₹500 crore for new works. Out of this, the DPC approved ₹300 crore worth of projects, while the remaining ₹200 crore remains unallocated.

Notably, several MVA legislators had submitted requests for funds to carry out vital development works in their constituencies. This includes Congress MLAs from Bhor and Purandar and Ashok Pawar, the NCP MLA from Shirur.

However, it was confirmed that these legislators, along with prominent MPs like Supriya Sule and Amol Kolhe, have not received any allocation.
