Pune has been grappling with water supply disruptions for the second day in a row, causing widespread inconvenience across multiple areas of the city.

Despite assurances from the water supply department, many localities have been without water for two days, while others experienced late and low-pressure supply.

The disruption began on Thursday (October 17) when the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) halted water supply across most parts of the city to carry out urgent maintenance, pumping, and electrical work at various water stations.

The water supply department had announced that water would be restored late and with low pressure on Friday (October 18). However, in reality, some areas did not receive water until late Friday night, and in many places, water was not available until Saturday (October 19) afternoon, around 3 p.m.

Affected areas include Bibwewadi Gaothan, Bibwewadi Ota, Upper Indiranagar, Jendenagar, Pafal Vasti, Shelke Vasti, Warje Malwadi, Popular Nagar, Atul Nagar, Ramnagar, Garden City, and Runwal Society.

Residents in these localities reported significant inconvenience, with many societies unable to fill their water tanks due to low water pressure. In slum areas, the water supply was completely absent for two days.

Rajesh Nikam, a resident of Bibwewadi, expressed his frustration, stating, "We haven't had water for two days. Normally, we receive water between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., but on Wednesday night, water did not arrive.

On Thursday, the supply was completely halted, and there was no water at all on Thursday night. When water finally arrived on Friday night, the pressure was so low that it was barely usable. We did not have enough water for cooking, bathing, washing dishes, or even using the toilets."

The water supply disruption has caused considerable challenges for the residents, particularly in daily household activities. The municipal authorities have yet to announce when the situation will be fully resolved.
