Pune: In a commendable display of quick action, the Pune fire brigade successfully rescued two individuals trapped in the riverbed in separate incidents at Bhide Bridge and Karvenagar.

The first rescue occurred around 1:30 PM on Friday (August 30) near Bhide Bridge, when fire brigade officials received reports of a person being swept away in the riverbed.

Kamlesh Chaudhary, head of the Kasba Peth fire station, along with his team, promptly launched a search operation. The team identified the individual, later identified as 45-year-old Ajaykumar Gautam, who had been swept away by the released water.

After conducting a search near Siddheshwar Ghat in the Municipal Corporation area, the firefighters managed to pull him out of the water, thanks to their swift response.

In a separate incident earlier that morning around 7 AM, another person was reported trapped in the riverbed in Karvenagar. Officers Prabhakar Umratkar and firefighters from the Warje and Sinhagad Road fire stations immediately responded to the call.

The rescue team, equipped with ropes, life rings, and life jackets, reached the site with a boat and found the individual stuck in the middle of the riverbed.

The firefighters carefully navigated the waters, providing reassurance to the stranded individual and successfully extricating him from the water, concluding the rescue mission.

These timely interventions by the Pune fire brigade underscore the importance of rapid response in emergency situations, ensuring the safety of individuals caught in perilous conditions.
