Pune: In a significant breakthrough, the Sahakarnagar police have arrested a husband for murdering his wife and staging it as a suicide.

The incident came to light on July 6, when Anjali Swapnil More (29) from Dhankawadi was found unconscious at around 3:30 AM.

Her relatives rushed her to Bharati Hospital, where she was declared dead by the doctors. Initially, the family reported it as a suicide, leading to an autopsy. The Sahakarnagar police began investigating the possibility of murder.

Officers Amol Pawar, Kiran Kamble, and Mahesh Mandlik, acting on a tip-off, discovered that Anjali's husband, Swapnil Shivram More, had allegedly killed her during a domestic dispute and then staged the scene to look like a suicide.

Confronted by the police, Swapnil confessed to the crime, citing suspicion of his wife's infidelity as the motive. He admitted to strangling her with a nylon rope and then hanging her body to simulate a suicide.

Swapnil More has been charged under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and is now in police custody.
