Pune: A journalist was brutally attacked with a machete by three individuals in Erandwane after he refused to withdraw a complaint he had filed with the police. The suspects have been arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Rahul Ashok Bangude (40), a resident of Bhalekar Chawl, Erandwane, filed a complaint at Deccan Police Station.

Based on the complaint, the police have arrested Yash Rajesh Kandhare (22), Om Rajesh Kandhare (18), and Rajesh Vitthal Kandhare (50), all residents of Erandwane, on charges of attempted murder.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday evening around 6:30 PM near the Ganesh Temple in Bhalekar Vasti, where the complainant was standing and talking on the phone.

Yash Kandhare approached him and accused him of refusing to withdraw the complaint, saying, "You think you’re above us because you filed a complaint against us? Do you want to live or not?"

Yash then pulled out a machete and attempted to kill the complainant. When the complainant raised his hand to defend himself, the machete struck his left hand.

At that moment, Shambhu Kandhare and Rajesh Kandhare arrived on a vehicle and began assaulting the complainant with kicks, punches, sticks, and stones.

The complainant, injured, tried to flee, but Rajesh chased him on a vehicle and continued to assault him. He also threatened the complainant, saying that if he went to the police station, they would falsely implicate him in a theft case.

The Deccan Police have arrested the three suspects, and Inspector Raut is investigating the case.
