Pune-Lonavala Local Train Schedule Disrupted: Passengers Express Anger

Neelam Karale

Pimpri: Commuters traveling on the Pune to Lonavala local trains are facing significant inconvenience due to frequent disruptions in the train schedule.

Many local trains are being suddenly canceled, while others are consistently running late. This has resulted in delays for workers returning home after a long day, prompting frustration among passengers.

They are calling for the railway administration to adhere to the established schedule for local train services.

On Thursday, September 17, the local train that was supposed to leave Pimpri station at 10:30 AM arrived at 11:00 AM, leading to confusion among numerous passengers.

The unexpected cancellations of local trains have caused delays for students trying to reach their schools and colleges, as well as for employees heading to their offices.

Passengers have pointed out that announcements regarding train schedules are essential, especially when trains are delayed. Unfortunately, no announcements were made at 10:30 PM, leading to the misunderstanding that the train had already departed.

The Pune-Lonavala route has over 150 express trains operating daily, including 42 local train services. Thousands of commuters travel this route daily for work, while many farmers from rural areas come to the city to sell milk and vegetables.

Due to the rapid travel options available between Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune, local trains have become the preferred mode of transportation for many.

However, the recent delays and cancellations of Pune-Lonavala local trains have led to considerable distress among commuters, prompting citizens to demand effective measures to resolve these issues.

Dheeraj Yadav, a worker who travels daily from Pune to Nigdi, expressed his frustration, stating, "Many times, the local trains arrive late, and I do not receive any information regarding this. As a result, my further planning gets disrupted, and I am late getting home."

Ramapal Badpagga, a public relations officer in Pune, added, "Several express trains run on the Pune-Lonavala route. If an express train is delayed or does not get a signal, sometimes the local train also runs a bit late."
