Pune: In a tragic incident in Pune's Bibwewadi area, a 27-year-old man, Tejas Tanaji Chalekar, reportedly took his own life, allegedly due to relentless harassment from his in-laws.

Police have registered a case against his wife, Aishwarya Vijay Pingale, her parents, and four others on charges of abetment to suicide.

The incident came to light when Tejas' mother, Sheela Tanaji Chalekar, filed a complaint at the Bibwewadi police station. According to the complaint, Tejas had been subjected to continuous pressure and mental torment by his wife and her family members, leading to his extreme step.

Tejas and Aishwarya, who had a love marriage in August 2020, faced escalating marital discord soon after their wedding. The situation worsened when Tejas' business suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. After a period of separation, Aishwarya returned to her marital home, only for the conflicts to resume.

Tensions escalated further when Aishwarya's parents intervened, reportedly creating disturbances at Tejas' home. Under their influence, Aishwarya filed for divorce and alimony.

The harassment allegedly continued with other family members, including Rishikesh alias Bhai Sunil Khedkar, Sunil Shivling Khedkar, and Bhushan Sunil Khedkar, actively pursuing and troubling Tejas. The constant pressure forced Tejas and his parents to relocate from Bibwewadi to Indiranagar.

On August 9, while alone at home, Tejas allegedly hanged himself. The complaint was lodged by Tejas' mother, Sheela Chalekar, based on which the police registered the case. The investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Nikumbh.
