Pune police raided the infamous Matka King Nandu Naik's den located in the Janseva Building on Shivaji Road, leading to the arrest of eight individuals involved in illegal gambling activities. Police seized mobile phones, cash, and other gambling paraphernalia worth ₹2.11 lakh during the operation.

76-year-old Nandu Naik, notorious in the city's illegal gambling circles, has been running multiple Matka dens across Pune. Despite frequent police raids, his operations often resume shortly after being shut down, highlighting the persistent challenge for law enforcement.

The raid was conducted following a tip-off received by senior police officers about a gambling operation behind the Janseva Bhojanalay in Shukrawar Peth.

Acting on this information, officers from Crime Branch Units 1 and 2 executed the raid, during which betting slips for the Kalyan Open Matka were found in circulation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Santosh Lakshman Gujar (52), Ravindra Dhondiba Gajdane (42), Govind Anantrao Vedpathak (43), Raju Babanrao Gore (32), Kisan Dattatray Taware (43), Rohan Kisan Taware (19), Nilesh Krishnaji Ranpise (52), and Nandkumar Baburao Naik (76).

The seized items include mobile phones, ₹95,740 in cash, and other gambling tools. The total value of the confiscated items amounts to ₹2.11 lakh. Sub-Inspector Harshal Kadam is leading the investigation into the case.
