Pune: In a gesture of gratitude and celebration, regular commuters on the Pune-Mumbai Sinhagad Express came together to enthusiastically celebrate Khandenavami aboard the Sinhagad and Deccan Queen Express trains.

The passengers, most of whom travel daily on these trains to reach their workplaces in Mumbai, decorated the trains and performed traditional rituals as a token of appreciation for their year-round service.

For many daily commuters, the trains become an integral part of their lives, with fellow passengers forming close bonds, often likened to a family.

On this festive occasion, the passengers shared in the joy of Dussehra, exchanging greetings and best wishes as they celebrated together. The event was organized by the monthly pass-holding passengers, who make the Pune-Mumbai-Pune journey daily and consider the trains their "lifeline."

As part of the celebration, Durga Mata Pooja was performed on both the Sinhagad and Deccan Queen Express trains, followed by Aarti and the distribution of Prasad.

The passengers also made a special stop at Pune Station, where they performed a ritual on the train's engine. Sweets were distributed to the motorman and the guard, symbolizing the passengers’ gratitude for their continuous service throughout the year.

This annual tradition of Khandenavami and Vijayadashami celebrations has become a regular event, allowing the daily passengers to honor the trains that play a crucial role in their everyday lives.
