Pune: The standing committee will review a proposal to approve a tender worth ₹4.42 crores for the asphalt work on 15 bridges in Pune.

These bridges have developed potholes and worn-out roads due to the expiration of their liability period and recent rains. The repair work will ensure smoother traffic flow and safer travel conditions across these key infrastructure points.

The proposal includes river bridges, flyovers, and railway overpasses. To connect Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad and to link the two parts of Pune city, there are a total of 32 bridges.

Additionally, 17 flyovers have been constructed at important intersections to resolve traffic issues in various parts of the city. There are 9 railway overpasses, making a total of 58 bridges of all types in the city.

Out of these, the maintenance, repair, asphalt work, and cleanliness of 43 bridges are the responsibility of the respective contractors since they are still within the liability period.

However, the responsibility for the bridges whose liability period has expired falls on the municipal corporation, which will undertake this work.

The bridges to be asphalted are:

  • Babarao Bhide Bridge

  • Aga Khan Bridge

  • Old Sangam Bridge

  • Alankar Talkies Railway Overpass

  • Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bridge (Bund Garden)
