Pune Municipal Corporation has swiftly started repairing potholes and damaged sections of key roads ahead of the grand Ganesh immersion processions that will mark the culmination of Ganeshotsav.

The repairs come after a joint inspection by the Municipal Corporation, police officials, and representatives from Mahavitaran on Thursday.

The inspection was carried out to ensure that the routes are free from obstacles, such as overhanging power lines and fallen trees, and to identify any potholes or damaged areas that could disrupt the processions.

On Friday (September 13) morning, work began on several key roads, including Laxmi Road, Kelkar Road, Kumthekar Road, Shastri Road, and Tilak Road, which lead to Alka Chowk.

Additionally, other routes such as Karve Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, and Fergusson Road, which connect to Deccan, are also undergoing repairs.

The iconic processions held on Anant Chaturdashi are a major highlight of Pune's Ganesh festival, as Ganesh mandals across the city bid farewell to Lord Ganesha with grandeur.

With large crowds and multiple processions, ensuring smooth traffic and a safe journey for the devotees is crucial. To that end, the Municipal Corporation's road department has taken prompt action to ensure that all immersion routes are in good condition.

Alongside road repairs, officials also checked immersion ghats to ensure that the surrounding areas are well-prepared for the large crowds expected during the immersion rituals.

The authorities are making every effort to prevent any potential disruptions and ensure that the immersion processions proceed seamlessly.
