Pune: In response to increasing incidents on Baner Hill, the Baner Police Station organized a public safety awareness session for residents of Baner, Balewadi, Pashan, and Sutarwadi areas.

Led by Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi, the session took place on Saturday, 26th, from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. at Murkute Garden and Solar Garden, aiming to foster community cooperation for enhanced safety.

Police Inspector Bolkotgi began the session by addressing the public’s role in maintaining safety and underscored the police’s commitment to securing the Baner Hill area.

He outlined critical helpline numbers—112 and 100 for emergency assistance and a dedicated contact for senior citizens—and highlighted the Pune City Police WhatsApp group created to streamline support.

A comprehensive guide to safety was provided, covering various topics such as cyber fraud prevention, essential contact boards for Baner Hill visitors, a new police aid center soon to be operational in Baner, and the deployment of CCTV cameras across all hills.

Inspector Bolkotgi also informed attendees about the PA systems and AKSA lighting installations that will improve visibility on the hill. He assured residents that regular patrols and police scanners will aid in monitoring the area and promptly addressing issues.

The event saw participation from 200 to 300 residents, who actively engaged in the discussion and voiced their concerns. Attendees responded positively, vowing to spread awareness and encouraging the community to avoid visiting Baner Hill from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. for safety purposes.

Members of the Baner Hill Safety Group, including Kalyani Tokekar, Nikita Matade, and Jagruti Vichare, were also present, supporting community collaboration with the police for increased safety.
