Pune: Large parts of Pune will experience a power outage today, Thursday, from 10 AM to 6 PM due to maintenance and repair work.

Areas affected include central parts of the city such as Shaniwar, Narayan, and Rasta Peth, as well as Sinhagad Road, Erandwane, Shivajinagar, and Aundh village.

This widespread maintenance by MSEDCL (Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited) has raised questions about the extent of the work being conducted simultaneously across the city.

MSEDCL has undertaken these maintenance and repair works to prevent power disruptions during the monsoon season. Consequently, power supply in various areas under Shivajinagar, Parvati, and Kothrud divisions will be shut down for the entire day.

In the Shivajinagar division, areas dependent on the Chinchwad and Ganeshkhind substations will face an eight-hour power cut. These areas include parts of Laxmi Road, Shanivar and Narayan Peth, Ghorpade Colony, Thube Park, Sancheti Hospital, Hardikar Hospital, Model Colony, Deep Bangla Chowk, Modi Bagh, Wadarwadi, Gokhale Nagar, Janwadi, Shivajinagar village, Jungli Maharaj Road, Namdar Gopal Krishna Gokhale Road (Fergusson Road), District and Family Court, and Aundh village.

Under the Parvati division, power will be shut down in several areas along Sinhagad Road, including Hingne Khurd, Manik Bagh, Anand Nagar, Vitthalwadi, Jaidev Nagar, Jakat Naka, Dattawadi, Ganesh Mala, Pan Mala, Janata Vasahat, Parvati village and foothills, Laxminagar Chawl, Dandekar Bridge, Vijay Nagar Colony, Laxmi Park, Ambil Odha, Parvati Darshan, Arneshwar, Sahakar Nagar Phase 2, and Tilak Road.

In Kothrud, areas dependent on the Alankar feeder from the SNDT substation will also experience power outages. These areas include Pandurang Colony, the area near Abhinav School, Prerana Apartments, Deccan Waterworks area, and Shweta Apartments. MSEDCL officials have stated that messages will be sent to consumers’ mobile phones to notify them of the outages.

Pimpri-Chinchwad

Some areas in Pimpri-Chinchwad will also experience phased power outages. Areas dependent on the Telco substation, including the River Residency area from 10 AM to 2 PM, and the Kudalwadi area from 2 PM to 5 PM, will face power cuts. The Bhosari substation area will have no power from 10 AM to 5 PM, according to MSEDCL.
