Pune Rains Update: Moderate to Heavy Downpour in City Today

Pune: In line with IMD-GFS forecast, heavy rains started pouring in Pune city since early morning on Sunday (July 14).

Moderate to heavy rain is expected for Pune city today (July 14) with rain amount reaching about 50mm. Extremely heavy rain warning (Red Alert) has been issued for Pune-Satara ghat region on July 14 and 15.

Monsoon has become active, bringing consistent rain across Pune district throughout the day. The ghat regions are experiencing continuous showers.

Pune district, including Pune city areas, saw light to moderate rain from Saturday (July 13) morning. Residents experienced the first substantial monsoon showers due to the continuous downpour.

The western part of the district, particularly the ghats, reported ongoing rain, with Lonavala recording the highest rainfall at 68 mm by 5:30 PM on Saturday. Talegaon Dhamdhere noted the lowest rainfall.

The monsoon-associated low-pressure area has shifted slightly southward, now extending from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan through Hisar, Delhi, Barabanki, Dehri, Asansol to the northeastern Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation persists over north Gujarat and surrounding areas at an altitude of 3.1 to 5.8 kilometers.

A low-pressure belt continues parallel to the Maharashtra to northern Kerala coast. Cyclonic circulation at 5.8 kilometers above sea level is also present near the Andhra Pradesh coast in the Bay of Bengal. Consequently, continuous rain is expected to persist into the coming week.

  • Lonavala: 68 mm

  • Lavasa: 40 mm

  • Girivan: 23 mm

  • Malin: 15 mm

  • Shivajinagar: 2.5 mm

  • Rajgurunagar: 3.5 mm
