Pune: A teacher in Pune's Hadapsar area has been arrested for allegedly molesting a ninth-grade student, sparking outrage in the community.

The accused reportedly harassed the girl over the course of several weeks, leading to his eventual arrest after the victim and her mother filed a complaint with the police.

The accused teacher, identified as Ganesh Kakad, has been arrested. According to police reports, the incident occurred in July 2024, when the accused, Ganesh Kakad, asked the girl, who is a student at a school in the Hadapsar area, for her home address.

Later, while teaching in class, he told the victim to keep looking at him and not to look elsewhere, adding that he was handsome. The girl did not respond to his comments.

After school, when the victim was on her way home, the accused allegedly harassed her by asking if she was walking home and if he could drop her off. He also inquired about her residence, making her uncomfortable.

On the morning of August 26, around 11 a.m., the girl was standing in the school playground when the accused approached her and asked why she had whistled, attempting to get closer to her. The harassment continued for the next few days.

The victim finally reported the entire situation to her mother, who then lodged a complaint with the police. A case has been registered against Ganesh Kakad, and further investigation is ongoing, according to the police.
