Pune: A tragic case of a 15-year-old boy’s suicide has exposed a disturbing story of sexual abuse and blackmail.
The Sahakarnagar police have arrested a 26-year-old man, identified as Sanket Rajesh Mohile, for allegedly abusing the minor and driving him to take the extreme step. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and for abetment to suicide.
As per the complaint filed by the boy's father, Mohile and the boy had been acquainted. About a year ago, Mohile lured the boy to the Taljai Hills area, where he reportedly engaged in obscene acts and committed unnatural offenses against him.
Mohile further photographed the acts on his mobile phone and used these images to threaten and blackmail the boy over time.
The relentless harassment and mental stress led the boy to hang himself at his residence on November 15. Following the tragic incident, the boy’s father approached the Sahakarnagar police, filing a formal complaint.
The investigation revealed Mohile's role in the case, including his repeated threats that pushed the boy to take his life.
The police have since arrested Mohile. Senior Police Inspector Chhagan Kapse visited the site of the suicide, and Assistant Police Inspector Pawar is currently heading the investigation.
Authorities have reiterated the importance of vigilance and awareness in protecting minors from such heinous acts, urging the community to report any suspected abuse immediately.
