Pune: The Loni Kalbhor police arrested three individuals on Friday (October 18) evening after they were found posting photos of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and terrorist Dawood Ibrahim as their social media statuses.

This development follows Lawrence Bishnoi’s resurgence in the headlines after the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui.

The incident was reported around 6:30 PM when a 40-year-old resident filed a complaint at the Loni Kalbhor police station. Acting on the complaint, authorities detained the three accused and presented them before the Judicial Magistrate (First Class) T. S. Gaygole.

During the court proceedings, Assistant Public Prosecutor Adv. Bhagyashree Sancheti (Dangale) argued on behalf of the government. She emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to determine if the accused have any links to Dawood Ibrahim’s criminal network.

Additionally, the prosecutor pointed out the importance of identifying the origin of the offensive statuses, investigating who might have motivated the accused to post such content, and uncovering any further involvement of other individuals.

The prosecution requested police custody for the accused to conduct a deeper investigation into the matter. Considering the arguments, the court granted the request and remanded the accused to police custody until October 23 for further inquiry.

Earlier, a 40-year-old social worker had filed a police complaint after receiving a death threat on Facebook for commenting on the murder of Baba Siddiqui.

The Swargate police station has registered a case against a person using a fake Facebook account under the name "Sumeet Dada Ghule Patil."
