Pune: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, addressed the ongoing traffic issues in Pune, while outlining the extensive developmental projects taking place across the city and its surrounding areas.
Speaking at an event, Fadnavis highlighted the importance of Pune as an economic hub and cultural center, noting that significant work is currently underway.
“Pune is not just the cultural capital of Maharashtra but also the technological capital. Projects worth ₹1 lakh crore are ongoing in the city and nearby regions.
However, the traffic situation remains a challenge, and citizens will need to bear with it for five more years. Once all the development projects are completed, Pune will boast the best-controlled traffic system in the state, with smooth and efficient transport facilities,” Fadnavis said.
The ongoing construction of the Pune Metro has caused significant disruptions in traffic flow across the city, leading to growing frustration among commuters.
Acknowledging this, Fadnavis urged the citizens to remain patient, assuring them that the current traffic issues are temporary and will be resolved once the infrastructure work is completed.
In a scathing remark aimed at the opposition, Fadnavis criticized certain political figures for their reaction to the delay in the Pune Metro project. "After the postponement of the Pune Metro inauguration, some people were thumping their chests.
These are people who have never erected even a single column in their life, yet they are quick to criticize. Do something of substance first, then you can boast about it,” Fadnavis said, addressing the opposition.
The event also marked significant milestones for Pune's development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Pune Metro route from the District Court to Swargate and laid the foundation stone for the Swargate to Katraj underground metro route via video conference. Additionally, Modi inaugurated the newly constructed Solapur Airport.
