Pune: In a significant infrastructural development, the Public Works Department (PWD) has approved the construction of a 53-kilometer six-lane flyover connecting Pune to Shirur.
This ambitious project will further extend to link with the Samruddhi Mahamarg via Ahmednagar and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, enhancing connectivity across key regions in Maharashtra.
The flyover is set to commence near Kesnand village, located on the outskirts of Pune, and will stretch across 53 kilometers to Shirur.
This project aims to significantly reduce travel time and improve the flow of traffic between Pune and Shirur, while also providing a direct link to the Samruddhi Mahamarg, a major expressway that connects Mumbai to Nagpur through several key cities, including Ahmednagar and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
The decision to connect the flyover with the Samruddhi Mahamarg is expected to boost economic activities and ease the movement of goods and passengers by providing a seamless travel route between major cities. This new infrastructure will not only facilitate better connectivity but is also likely to contribute to the overall development of the surrounding areas.
Further details about the project timeline, estimated cost, and execution strategy are awaited, as the PWD works on finalizing the blueprint and securing necessary approvals.
The project is a part of the state’s ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure and promote economic growth by connecting more regions through advanced road networks.
