Pune: A tragic incident unfolded in the Bhekrainagar area of Hadapsar, Pune, where a 22-year-old woman ended her life due to alleged harassment from her husband over his extramarital affair.

The deceased, identified as Tejashree Akash Udamale, was found hanging in her residence on September 7. The police have filed a case against her husband, Akash Ashok Udamale, age 25, under charges of abetment to suicide.

The case came to light when Tejashree’s grandmother, Deubai Pandurang Netke, lodged a formal complaint at the Hadapsar Police Station. According to the complaint, Tejashree and Akash got married in March 2019.

Soon after, Tejashree discovered that Akash was involved in an extramarital affair. When she confronted him about the affair, Akash allegedly responded with physical violence and emotional abuse. He refused to provide financial support, adding to her distress by taunting her with derogatory remarks about her ability to conceive and have children.

The situation deteriorated as Tejashree was subjected to ongoing harassment and neglect. Unable to cope with the abuse, she decided to take her own life.

Her death has sparked a serious investigation led by Police Sub-Inspector Vinod Pawar, who is now gathering evidence and statements to build the case against Akash.

This incident underscores the severe emotional toll that domestic disputes and infidelity can have on individuals, highlighting the need for supportive interventions and mental health resources for those in distress.
