The prolonged absence of appointments has caused significant financial, social, and psychological stress for the candidates.

Pune: Candidates who successfully cleared the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination after extensive preparation and hard work are still awaiting their appointments, six months after the verification of their documents. The candidates have appealed to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to address the delays in their appointment process.

In June 2022, the MPSC announced 93 vacancies for the position of State Tax Inspector. Following the completion of all examination stages, the results were declared in December 2023.

A formal recommendation letter dated February 9, 2024, listed 93 candidates for the State Tax Inspector posts. The subsequent document verification was completed between March 19 and March 21, 2024. Despite this, the candidates have not received their official appointments even after six months.

Initially, the appointments were delayed due to the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections. Once the election code was lifted, candidates were informed that the delay was due to a restructuring process within the GST department.

Meanwhile, candidates from the 2021 waiting list for State Tax Inspector and those who cleared the 2022 Tax Assistant exam were appointed during this restructuring period.

According to the candidates' statement to Ajit Pawar, further attempts to follow up with the GST department post-restructuring revealed that ongoing promotions and transfers were causing additional delays.

The prolonged absence of appointments has caused significant financial, social, and psychological stress for the candidates. With the potential for the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections to be implemented soon, candidates fear that their appointments might be delayed even further.

They have urged the Deputy Chief Minister to intervene and ensure that their appointment issue is resolved swiftly.
