Rabi Crops: First Rotation Released from Bhama Askhed Dam

1,200 cusecs water has been released through two gates of the dam.

Ambethan: The first phase of the current rabi season has been released from Bhama Askhed (Khed) dam. The water has been released by 1,200 cusecs through two gates of the dam.

Bhama Askhed is an earthen dam built on the Bhama River in the western part of Khed taluka. The water storage capacity of the dam is 8.14 TMC.

This year, the dam area has recorded 1,299 mm of rainfall since June 1. At present, the water storage in the dam is 99.65 per cent or 8.12 TMC while the live storage is 7.64 TMC.

Last year, on this date, the reservoir had 88.32 per cent water storage.

The water has been released from two gates of the dam at a speed of 1,200 cusecs, for which gates number one and four have been lifted by 20 centimetres. The 18 dams up to Alegaon Paga will be filled through this rotation.
