Pune: In response to a 'Love Jihad' case that recently surfaced in Indapur Taluka, the Muslim community of Rajegaon (Daund) has firmly stated that they do not support the actions of the accused.
The man in question, Nasir alias Sikandar Mulani, had moved to Rajegaon from another region for work, but his involvement in criminal activities has tarnished the reputation of the local Muslim community.
The community has issued a written request to local authorities, urging that Mulani and his family should no longer be allowed to reside in Rajegaon.
The issue picked up last week when a young girl from Indapur Taluka filed a police complaint, alleging that she had been sexually abused by Mulani for four years, beginning when she was a minor.
Based on this complaint, police arrested Nasir Mulani, his mother Parveen Mulani, as well as the victim's aunt and cousin, who are also implicated in the case.
In a memorandum addressed to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, the Tehsildar, and Bhigwan and Daund police stations, Rajegaon's Muslim community expressed their frustration.
They stated that Mulani's actions have caused other communities to view the Muslim community in a disrespectful manner, leading to shame and dishonor for the entire village.
The community is also concerned that the village's bad reputation could negatively impact future marriage prospects for young people within their community.
The memorandum demanded that Mulani and his family be sent back to their native village, and they should not be allowed to continue residing in Rajegaon.
Additionally, they requested that Mulani should not claim Rajegaon as his place of residence. The community warned that if Mulani returns, they will organize a strong protest, which could include extreme measures like self-immolation.
The memorandum was signed by several prominent members of the Rajegaon Muslim community, including Amar Sheikh, Aziz Sheikh, Imtiaz Tamboli, Rafik Sheikh, Rahim Sheikh, Samir Sheikh, Riyaz Mulani, Dilawar Sheikh, Siraj Sheikh, and Mahmood Sheikh.
