Pune: In a swift operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a constable from Ravet Police Station while accepting a bribe to settle an accident case and avoid legal action.
Constable Dnyandev Tukaram Bagade, age 44, was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of ₹5,000 from the father of one of the parties involved in the accident.
The incident occurred when the son of a 57-year-old complainant was involved in a road accident with a motorcyclist in Punawale. The case was assigned to Constable Bagade for investigation.
Instead of proceeding with legal formalities, Bagade demanded a bribe of ₹5,000 to settle the matter privately and prevent any legal action against the complainant’s son.
After receiving a complaint, the ACB verified the claims and set up a trap. Bagade summoned the complainant to Gandharv Hotel in Punawale on Friday (October 11), where the constable was apprehended while accepting the bribe.
Following the arrest, a case was registered at the Ravet Police Station, and Constable Bagade was taken into custody.
The ACB operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Sheetal Janve. Police Inspector Vijay Pawar is leading the investigation into the case.
