Ravet Residents Forced to Hire Tankers Amid Contaminated Supply

Due to the extremely inadequate water supply from the municipality, residents are forced to hire water tankers at their own expense.

Pune: Residents of societies near Sameer Lawns in Ravet are facing severe health risks due to a contaminated water supply. Despite filing complaints for the past five years, the issue remains unresolved as the administration continues to neglect the problem.

Last week's heavy rains caused water to enter many societies, disrupting both electricity and water supply. Residents of Sameer Lawns area in Ravet have been facing inadequate and contaminated water supply for several years.

Due to the extremely inadequate water supply from the municipality, residents are forced to hire water tankers at their own expense. Currently, diseases like dengue and chikungunya are spreading significantly in the city.

The municipal medical department has also warned of a possible increase in waterborne diseases due to the recent rains. They have advised citizens to take precautions. In such a situation, residents are troubled by the contaminated water supply in their society.

Priyanka Kadam, a local resident from Ravet said, "We have been living in this area for the past five years. While all the surrounding societies receive a smooth water supply, our society receives contaminated water. Despite repeated complaints, no action has been taken by the administration."

Praveen Dhumal, Deputy City Engineer, Water Supply Department, Ward Office stated, "We have received complaints about the contaminated water supply. We have sent water samples for testing. It will be clear after the testing whether the water supply is bad or the society's tank is faulty. Accordingly, further action will be taken."
