Pune: Commuters using Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses will soon have the convenience of booking their tickets online from home.

Along with the PMPML app, two private companies will soon offer online ticketing services. These companies, recommended by the central government, have developed an online ticketing and bus tracking system for PMPML. This will enable passengers to book tickets online without leaving their homes in the coming days.

PMPML was initially developing a live bus location tracking system with Google, but technical issues hindered its completion. Consequently, PMPML created its own app to provide real-time bus information. The app is now in its final testing phase.

Through the app, passengers can view bus schedules and book tickets from home. Upon boarding the bus, they can simply show the conductor a QR code to validate their ticket. The app will feature all social media platforms and provide information on all PMPML routes.

It will also offer online ticket booking and various pass options. The app is set to launch after completing the final tests. With these developments, Pune residents can look forward to more convenient and efficient public transportation services.

In addition to the PMPML app, two private companies have been tasked with providing online ticketing services for PMPML. The central government selected the startups from Delhi. These companies will provide PMPML passengers with online ticketing, live bus tracking, and schedule information through their platforms.

Currently, these companies are working on an experimental basis for free and are close to completing their online systems. As a result, PMPML passengers will have three options for online ticket booking.

Nitin Narvekar, Deputy Managing Director of PMPML, stated, "Along with the PMPML app, two private companies have been assigned the task of providing online ticketing services for PMPML.

The central government-appointed companies will offer online ticketing and live bus tracking information to passengers, providing them with multiple options."
