Pune: The draft voter list for Pune district for the upcoming assembly elections was released on August 6, revealing a significant increase in the number of polling stations.

With the addition of 204 new polling stations compared to the recent Lok Sabha elections, Pune now has a total of 8,417 polling stations across its 21 assembly constituencies.

Pune district comprises 21 assembly constituencies. The draft voter list for these constituencies was released on Tuesday (August 6) by District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase.

According to the draft voter list, there are 8,417 polling stations in the district, serving a total of 8,439,729 voters. Among these voters, there are 4,403,344 men, 4,035,640 women, and 745 transgender individuals.

During the recent Lok Sabha elections, there were 8,213 polling stations for the four Lok Sabha constituencies of Pune, Baramati, Shirur, and Maval in Pune district.

The increase in the number of polling stations for the assembly elections has made Pune the district with the highest number of polling stations in the state, as confirmed by Deputy District Election Officer Minal Kalaskar.

Despite an increase in the number of polling stations in Mumbai Suburban, Thane, and Nagpur districts for the assembly elections, it is unlikely that these districts will surpass Pune in terms of the total number of polling stations.

Consequently, Pune is expected to maintain its position as the district with the highest number of polling stations in the state for the assembly elections, according to Kalaskar.
