Pune: Madhuri Misal, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Parvati assembly constituency, has suggested restricting heavy traffic on Sinhagad Road during peak hours from 9am to 11am and 6pm to 9pm. She also announced that a memorandum will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic of Pune Police to enforce this restriction.

In light of a recent accident on Sinhagad Road, MLA Misal also urged Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials to implement immediate measures to alleviate traffic congestion and improve road safety in the area. During a thorough inspection of the Sinhagad Road and the ongoing flyover construction, Misal highlighted several critical issues and proposed solutions to address them.

Accompanied by former municipal councilors Manjusha Nagpure and Shrikant Jagtap along with key civic officials, MLA Misal identified various problems contributing to the daily traffic snarls and frequent accidents on Sinhagad Road.

These issues include uneven road surfaces, scattered concrete, potholes, damaged chamber covers, and collapsed drainage grates. Misal emphasized the urgent need to level the roads, properly cover drainage systems, and maintain cleanliness to prevent water accumulation.

PMC anti-encroachment department authorities had launched a crackdown on unauthorized vendors causing disruptions at the gate of Pu La Deshpande Garden on Sinhagad Road. In addition to the infrastructural improvements, MLA Misal called on the citizens to cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness of the area.

She urged residents not to dump garbage in streams or on roads, citing an incident in Manikbaug where items like mattresses, sofas, etc blocked water flow. Proper disposal of waste in designated areas is essential for the smooth functioning of the drainage system.

Misal also stressed the importance of adhering to traffic rules to prevent accidents. She urged motorists to follow signals at intersections where signal systems are operational.
