Rival Groups Clash in Khadakwasla, One Dead, One Injured, 8 Arrested

Pune: In a violent incident near Ghera Sinhagad village, Khadakwasla, a young man was killed, and another was critically injured in a shooting between two rival groups.

The confrontation, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 14th September, in the Sambrewadi area near Khanapur, led to the death of 22-year-old Rohit alias Bhorya Dharmendra Dhile after he was struck with a machete.

Another man, Somnath Ananta Wagh, 24, suffered severe gunshot wounds after being shot twice in the chest by members of the opposing gang. The Haveli police arrested eight suspects on Sunday, 15th September, in connection with the murder.

According to police sources, both groups involved in the altercation hail from Khanapur village and have a history of enmity. The conflict escalated during a face-off, where one group attacked Dhile with a machete, striking him on the head and causing fatal injuries. Meanwhile, members of the rival group opened fire, severely injuring Wagh, who is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Haveli Police Inspector Sachin Wangade stated that cases have been filed against both groups, based on complaints lodged by each side. Eight suspects were arrested in connection with the killing of Rohit Dhile. Three of the suspects were nabbed in Vinzar, Taluka Velhe, while the other five were apprehended in the Khadakwasla and Khanapur regions.

The suspects have been identified as Mangesh Mohan Darwatkar (age 25, resident of Kondgaon, Taluka Velhe), Vaibhav Shivaji Jagde (age 20), Siddhesh Rajendra Pasalkar (age 25), both residents of Ambed, Taluka Velhe, Prathamesh Maruti Jawalkar (age 18), Sumit Kiran Sapkal (age 20), Ketan Narayan Jawalkar (age 18), Vaibhav Kishor Pawar (age 18), and Tejas Chandrakant Wagh (age 24), all residents of Khanapur, Taluka Haveli.
