Pune: A gang of 9 to 10 masked individuals, riding on motorcycles, stormed a garage in Balewadi and carried out a brazen robbery.
The attackers, armed with iron rods and wooden sticks, threatened and assaulted the staff and customers at the RaviRaj Automobiles and Washing Center, looting a total of ₹69,000 in cash and valuables. The crime occurred between 5:30 and 5:45 PM on Friday at Vilastatya Balwadkar Chowk in Balewadi.
The Chatuhshrungi police swiftly arrested three members of the gang—Aleem Sayyed (19), Deva Shirole (20), and Mohan Adagale (19)—and took five minors into custody.
The gang members were located in Pimple Gurav, Sangvi, based on information gathered by the investigation team.
The complainant, Siddheshwar Digambar Dhere, who owns the garage, reported that the gang arrived on three motorcycles with their faces covered.
They immediately began threatening the employees and customers with iron rods and wooden sticks, injuring a mechanic and a customer in the process. The gang then forcibly took ₹49,000 in cash and the complainant’s mobile phone, with a total stolen amount of ₹69,000.
Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner of Police Anuja Deshmane, Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi, and Police Inspector Yuvraj Nandre, visited the scene to assess the situation and direct the investigation.
Acting on descriptions provided by the victims and leads from their network, the police located the gang members in Pimple Gurav. After interrogations, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crime, leading to their immediate arrest.
The quick arrests were made possible through the efforts of Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi, Police Inspector Yuvraj Nandre, and Assistant PI Narendra Patil, supported by personnel including Waghwale, Momin, Dushing, Tandale, Dangde, Mane, Shirke, Durge, Kharaat, Bhangale, and Tarange.
