Pune: The Mahayuti alliance has resolved discontent within the Republican Party of India (Athawale) by allocating two assembly seats to the ally. This development has motivated RPI (A) to join Mahayuti’s assembly campaign, according to RPI (A) city president Sanjay Sonawane.

The RPI (A) initially demanded 10 to 12 seats within the Mahayuti seat-sharing arrangement, causing frustration among party officials and workers when allocations weren’t confirmed.

Following internal pressure, Mahayuti leaders ultimately assigned the Dharavi and Kalina constituencies in Mumbai to RPI (A), satisfying the ally’s demand. With this decision, Sonawane announced that RPI (A) will now campaign alongside Mahayuti candidates for the upcoming election.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured RPI (A) leader MP Ramdas Athawale that, if the alliance gains power, the party will secure one Legislative Council seat, a cabinet ministerial position, four corporation chairmanships, positions on government committees at the district and taluka levels, and representation in local bodies such as municipal corporations and district councils.

Acting on these assurances, Athawale instructed party members to actively support Mahayuti candidates in the election.

RPI (A) leaders, including state organization secretary Parshuram Wadekar, general secretary Balasaheb Janrao, state member Ashok Kamble, Pune city general secretary Shyam Sadafule, Viren Sathe, Basavaraj Gaikwad, and Mahendra Kamble, have announced their commitment to the campaign.

Earlier on October 21, MP Murlidhar Mohol had urged the Mahayuti office bearers in Pune district to work in coordination across 21 assembly seats in preparation for the upcoming elections.
