Pune: As the Assembly elections approach and disagreements over candidate selection persist, senior BJP leaders and MLAs held a meeting with officials from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Pune to discuss strategies and voter engagement efforts.

Although described by BJP officials as a routine monthly coordination meeting, the discussions held on Thursday night (Oct 24) at the RSS office in Moti Baug, Shaniwar Peth carried significance amidst growing internal concerns.

The meeting included key figures, such as RSS City Prabodhan Manch Chief Mahesh Karpe and Metropolitan Chief Sachin Bhosale, State Minister for Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, BJP MLAs Madhuri Misal, Bhimrao Tapkir, Sunil Kamble, and Siddharth Shirole, along with State General Secretary Rajesh Pandey and City President Dheeraj Ghate.

The BJP recently released its initial candidate list for the Assembly elections, renominating incumbents in Pune’s Kothrud, Parvati, and Shivajinagar constituencies.

However, the BJP has yet to declare candidates for the Kasba, Pune Cantonment, and Khadakwasla constituencies, leaving local workers and potential candidates in anticipation.

Amidst this, the RSS is focusing on boosting voter turnout through its organizational framework, emphasizing a collective rather than candidate-centric approach.

Through the Prabodhan Manch, the RSS has been mobilizing its resources in neighborhoods to raise voter awareness.

In the meeting, RSS officials shared a detailed overview of the Prabodhan Manch’s work, explaining its impact, key themes, and progress across the city to support a high voter turnout in the upcoming Assembly elections.
