Pune: The School Education Department has initiated the admission process for students on the waiting list under the 25% reservation of the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
After successfully completing admissions for regular students, the department is now focusing on filling the remaining seats with students from the waiting list.
The process, which began on August 16, is set to be completed by August 26, according to a circular released by the Director of Primary Education, Sharad Gosavi.
A total of 2,42,516 students had applied for RTE admissions, out of which 93,032 students were selected for admission. There are 72,276 students on the waiting list in the state, and 61,156 students have already been admitted through the regular admission rounds.
Now, the remaining seats will be filled by students on the waiting list. From August 16, students will start receiving SMS notifications regarding their admissions, and the admission link will be active from August 16 to 26.
Eligible students for RTE admissions were given two extensions to complete their admissions. After this, parents were inquiring about when the admission process for students on the waiting list would begin.
On August 14, the Education Department issued a circular announcing the commencement of the admission process for students on the waiting list. Sharad Gosavi has instructed all concerned parties to complete the admission process within the stipulated time.
