Pune: The Sambhaji Brigade has announced the termination of its alliance with the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and its decision to contest 50 seats independently in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

The alliance was dissolved due to Shiv Sena (UBT) failure to deliver on its promise to allocate at least four to five Assembly seats to the Sambhaji Brigade, as earlier agreed.

Speaking at a press conference in Pune, Sambhaji Brigade president Adv. Manoj Akhare, alongside other leaders including chief spokesperson Gangadhar Banbare, vice president Abhimanyu Pawar, and state organizer Santosh Shinde, made the announcement.

They were accompanied by district president Chandrashekhar Ghadge, state co-organizer Manojkumar Gaikwad, and other key office-bearers.

The alliance between the Sambhaji Brigade and Shiv Sena (UBT) was formed two years ago. During the May Lok Sabha elections, the Sambhaji Brigade did not contest any seats and actively supported the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

The MVA secured good results, and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray had then promised the Sambhaji Brigade a share of four to five Assembly seats from the Shiv Sena quota.

However, in the recent seat-sharing discussions for the Assembly elections, the promised seats were not allocated, leading the Sambhaji Brigade to part ways with the Shiv Sena (UBT) and exit the MVA.

The Sambhaji Brigade plans to contest 50 seats from regions including Western Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Northern Maharashtra. The list of candidates is expected to be announced in the coming days.
