Pune: Sangvi police arrested two suspects, Shashikant Dadarao Bansode and Prathamesh Arun Ingle, who were involved in the vandalism of 14 vehicles near the Mayur Nagari area in Pimpri Gurav.

These acts of destruction were carried out in the early hours of Sunday (September 15) in an apparent attempt to spread fear and terror in the community.

The police, in a show of force and public accountability, paraded the arrested suspects through the area where they committed the crimes on Tuesday at around 5:30 PM. This public display aimed to reassure local residents that swift action had been taken and that justice would be served.

The vandalism spree began around 4 AM on Sunday, with the two suspects roaming the streets of Pimpri Gurav and New Sangvi, armed with machetes.

During their rampage, they encountered a mentally disabled man, Rajesh, who was standing outside his home. The suspects questioned him about the whereabouts of one Lala Patil, a local resident involved in an earlier altercation.

When Rajesh failed to provide the address and had also witnessed the suspects damaging vehicles, the duo viciously attacked him with a machete, attempting to kill him.

Following this brutal attack, Bansode and Ingle turned their attention to nearby vehicles, shattering windows and damaging cars in their path. Eyewitnesses reported that the two suspects were brandishing their machetes in the air, spreading panic among residents before fleeing the scene.

The Sangvi police acted swiftly upon receiving information about the incident. They used CCTV footage from the area to track down and apprehend the suspects within a matter of hours.

The accused were then taken back to the crime scene, where they were paraded in front of local residents, a rare yet impactful practice aimed at restoring a sense of order and control in the area.
