Pune: In a significant decision taken during the recent Maharashtra cabinet meeting, the state government approved the establishment of the Sant Shiromani Namdev Economic Development Corporation.
A primary fund of ₹50 crore has been sanctioned for the corporation's formation, with an annual increment of ₹5 crore to follow. This move is seen as a major step forward in supporting the economic development of the Shimpi community.
The Namdev Samajonnati Parishad, which had long been advocating for the creation of this corporation, welcomed the decision.
The Parishad, under the leadership of President Sanjay Nevaskar, Satara District President Sunil Pore, and General Secretary Dr. Ajay Phutane, had been actively pursuing the matter by submitting formal requests and following up with the Maharashtra government.
Their persistent efforts culminated in this favorable outcome, and the Parishad has expressed gratitude towards the state government.
The approved corporation is expected to significantly benefit the Shimpi community by providing financial aid and economic opportunities. Parishad members are optimistic that the funds will help resolve many of the community's challenges, particularly in enhancing their businesses and socio-economic status.
