Pune: In a dramatic sequence of events, a girl was abducted from Satara and married to her boyfriend, only for the couple to elope immediately afterward.

In retaliation, the girl's relatives allegedly kidnapped and brutally assaulted two men who had helped facilitate the marriage.

Pratik Vasant Vibhute, a 23-year-old resident of Swapnalok, Handewadi, has lodged a complaint at Loni Kalbhor Police Station against the girl’s relatives, naming Rohit Mandve, Omkar Gurav, Akash Mandve, Prakash Mandve, Kavishwar Mandve, Ajay Mandve, and Chandrakant Mandve, all residents of Kumthe Nagachi in Khatav Taluka, Satara district.

The incident occurred between 12:30 am and 11:00 am on September 26, spanning locations at Swapnalok Society in Handewadi and Kumthe Nagachi.

According to the police, Vibhute and his friends, who work as delivery boys, were friends with Sumit Vikas Mane, who was in a romantic relationship with the girl in question.

Due to strong family opposition to the relationship, the complainant and his friends decided to help Mane and the girl get married. They traveled to Satara and, in the early hours of the morning, assisted the girl in leaving her home to marry Mane. The newlyweds subsequently disappeared to an unknown location.

Meanwhile, the girl's brothers and relatives were desperately searching for her. Around midnight, they tracked down Saurabh Chavan and Rishikesh Mandve, arriving at the Swapnalok Society to confront Vibhute.

The group called Vibhute down and aggressively questioned him about the whereabouts of Mane and their sister. When Vibhute claimed he had no information, the enraged relatives allegedly beat him and his friends with belts and fiber pipes.

The group then forcibly took Vibhute and Rishikesh Mandve into their vehicle, initially claiming they would take them to Aundh Police Station but instead driving to Kumthe Nagachi.

The victims were confined in a tin shed near Rajmudra Ganesh Mandal, where they were subjected to further assaults with belts, sticks, and aluminum wires. Only after the attackers realized that Vibhute and Mandve had no information on the couple’s location were they released.

Upon their return to Pune, Vibhute and his friends filed a complaint. The Loni Kalbhor police have registered a case, and Sub-Inspector Nalawade is leading the investigation into the assault and abduction charges.
