Pune: Students from the Zilla Parishad Primary School in Nigadale (Tal. Ambegaon) got a taste of real farming activities through the "School on the Fields" initiative.

They visited a local farm to participate in rice planting and soil preparation, moving beyond textbook learning to gain practical experience.

With the tribal region experiencing rainfall, farming activities such as soil preparation and rice planting are in full swing.

The students were taken to the field of farmer Dunda Vitthal Kurhade, where they learned about holding bundles of seedlings, the types of rice seedlings, and proper planting distances from farmers Sakhu Bai Kurhade, Yogita Bhomale, Usha Lohakare, Asha Bai Kurhade, and Sunil Kurhade.

This initiative was supported by the School Management Committee Chairperson Ashwini Lohakare, Principal Shobha Jadhav, Assistant Teacher Santosh Thorat, and parent Ananta Bhomale.

Group Education Officer Amol Jangle, Education Extension Officer Premlata Salunkhe, and Center Head Chima Bendhari praised the effort, highlighting its role in giving students valuable hands-on experience and fostering social responsibility.

"The students were thrilled to get direct experience in rice planting, which not only helped farmers but also fulfilled social responsibility," said Principal Shobha Jadhav.
