Senior Prison Officer Injured in Viman Nagar Car Accident

A senior officer from Yerawada Central Prison, Ananda Shankar Kande, sustained injuries in a car accident in the Viman Nagar area on July 1.

Pune: A senior officer from Yerawada Central Prison, Ananda Shankar Kande, sustained injuries in a car accident in the Viman Nagar area on Monday (July 1). The car driver, identified as Saibanna Khandappa Harwalkar, has been charged at the Airport Police Station.

The incident occurred when Kande, 55, was on his way to buy vegetables on his two-wheeler. Stopping at a signal at Tata Gardroom Chowk, he was struck from behind by a car driven by Harwalkar, 32.

The collision caused Kande to fall onto the road, resulting in head and arm injuries. Responding swiftly, Senior Inspector Anandrao Khobare of the Airport Police Station arrived at the scene to assist.

Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially at busy intersections, to prevent such unfortunate accidents.
