Pune: A midnight shootout between two rival groups in Khanapur village, located 10 kilometers from Khadakwasla, has left one person dead and another critically injured.

The incident, which took place on Saturday (September 14) night, is believed to have been sparked by long-standing enmity between the two groups. The injured individual has been admitted to a private hospital and is receiving treatment.

The shooting unfolded on the Khanapur to Sambarewadi road, near the village marketplace along the Pune-Panshet road.

According to reports, the altercation began when one group opened fire, allegedly over previous hostilities, and the other group responded with gunfire of their own. Following the exchange, members of both groups fled the scene, leaving the community in shock and confusion.

The exact details of the incident, including the number of shots fired and the identities of those involved, remain unclear. The residents of Khanapur are left with lingering questions about what prompted the violence and who is responsible.

The sound of gunshots in the early hours of Sunday has created an atmosphere of fear and panic among locals. To maintain peace and order, the Pune Rural Police have stationed a significant security presence in the village. Officers from the Haveli Police Station are investigating the matter and have confirmed the incident.

In the wake of the shooting, police are working to identify the individuals involved and prevent any further violence. The police presence in the area has been bolstered to ensure that the situation does not escalate.
